Q: What is NYCVINMOTO?
A: New York City Vintage Motorcyclists (NYCVINMOTO) is an email list for people who have or are interested in vintage and classic motorcycles. It's a communication hub for talking shop, sharing ideas, tips and tech info, swapping parts, organizing rides, weekly events, etc...
Q: What is VINMOTO? Is it a club?
A: VinMoto isn't a club. No president, no 'meetings', no dues, no members (just subscribers). It's a loosely organized network of classic enthusiasts nationwide. If you have an idea for a ride, gathering, or some activity post it to the list and see who else wants to join you. If you need help in the way of parts, or local suppliers, or someone to remove that Bultaco basket case from your garage in exchange for a pizza, post that to the list too.
Q: Why Micapeak?
A: Micapeak.com is a cornerstone of the online motorcycling community, housing more lists than you can shake a stick at. We are proud to be a part of the Family.
Q: Do I have to get separate emails from the list?
A: No, you can set MAILMAN to send you a daily digest. With this option you do NOT get back a copy of your own mail to the list. Instead of receiving one e-mail message for every message anybody sends to NYCVINMOTO, you get one or two BIG "digest" e-mail messages per day, with all the traffic since the last digest batched up into one wrapper. You can set yourself to this mode once subscribed.
Q: Where can I meet you fools for some Bench Racing?
A: Monday nights Bar Matchless hosts 'MotoMondays' showing MotoGP, AMA Superbike and various movies. Also, The Ear Inn hosts a regular 'Hang' every Tuesday night 8-11pm. These shindigs are open to all motorcyclists on all marques and with any level of experience.
Q: Where is Bar Matchless?
A: 557 Manhattan Avenue (@ Driggs Ave.), Brooklyn
Q: Where is The Ear Inn?
A: 326 Spring Street (between Greenwich and Washington),Manhattan
Q: I have tried to post to these lists before, only to be told "only plain text allowed". What's up with that?
A: Your email program is set to MIME or HTML, the old system at Micapeak was only programmed for 'Plain-text'. This issue has been solved with the new system.
Q: This is technical and confusing and boring. Can I talk to a person?
A: Of course: info@nycvinmoto.com
Q: Where can I get random nuts, bolts & metric hardware?
A: Victor Machinery, 56 Bogart St, Brooklyn, NY 11206,(718) 366-9293,
Q: Where can I take my bike for service?
A: Browse the 'PARTS AND SERVICE' page for preferred shops and stores.
Q: Does my bike have to be vintage to hang with NYCVINMOTO?
A: No, but it helps us justify our eccentric addictions to old motorcycles if you'd just pretend to like them too.
Q: What exactly is "Vintage"?
A: Take this questionnaire (thanks Ricktator!) to help determine if your bike is new, vintage or just plain old.
Q: How can I set-up a 'Virtual Garage'?
A: Read the FAQ in the PHOTOS section.
